Today is the twentieth anniversary of the death of Wendy O. Williams, the lead singer of the very influential punk band The Plasmatics. I never had a chance to hear the band while they were together (Dallas radio in the Eighties was scared of the subversive tunes of Phil Collins), but catching most of the band’s discography years later, I hated what the Eighties became more than I did while living through it. Rest easy, Wendy: you’ve earned it.
